What is a social cause or philanthropic organization you support and why?

I am a member of the Board of Trustees for the Y of the Seven Council Fires, a youth and community organization on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. I have researched and published work around the legacy of colonialism and indigenous sovereignty.

What is your educational background?

I trained at Silberman School of Social Work and have provided individual & group therapy in private practice & outpatient settings. I continue ongoing training in grief and somatic therapy. A former architect, I have an M.Arch from Columbia and a BA in Psychology from Harvard.

What’s the best compliment you’ve received from a client?

I worked with a client with a long history of "bad experiences" with therapy. He was struggling with high stress at work, anxiety and PTSD but was skeptical that therapy could help. He shared that our work helped him trust again and explore a variety of new supports.
