If you were not a therapist, what other career would you choose?
If I were not a therapist I would choose to be an acupuncturist. I believe in the mind/body connection and try to take an overall holistic view. I have found acupuncture to assist with both physical and mental health challenges at times.
What is your general philosophy and approach to helping? Are you more directive or more guiding?
My approach to helping is a more guiding one. My role is to support my clients in achieving the goals that brought them into therapy. I always start "where the client is at", following what you need now. I take a strength based approach.
What do you wish clients could know about therapy before starting therapy?
Starting therapy, showing up and being open, can be scary but finding the right therapist for you that will take a non-judgemental stance is important.
